Wildlife & Natural Environment Bill - consultation

As you may have read in the press, or through the Chairman's blog on this site, the Scottish Government is holding a consultation on proposals for the Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill. This includes the following subjects:

  • Deer
  • Game Laws
  • non-native invasive species
  • Muirburn
  • Snaring
  • Species licensing
  • Badgers

The Government has also prepared partial impact assessments to summarise different options under each section. The consultation document is attached in its entirety, but we've also broken this out into sections to allow you to read and respond on the sections that are of most concern to you. These are attached below.

We encourage you to read and respond before the deadline of 4th September 2009, because many of the proposed changes are significant, far-reaching and in some cases, of great concern, particularly with regard to deer management proposals.
